Ray Wilson’s Legacy

Ray Wilson’s legacy is still very much alive. Ray’s wife of 35 years, Pam Wilson, recently held the second Art with Heart benefit for The Neurological Resource Center (TNRC) in February, which featured Ray’s award winning photography. As Ray passed away in May of 2008 from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), Pam notes that the show’s attendance was a “demonstration of loving support”.

This event quickly followed on the heels of a race in which Ray and Pam’s daughter and grandson, Teri and Brennan Piazza (picture below), received pledges for their participation. With over 10,000 in the race, Brennen came in 33rd in his age group while wearing a shirt honoring his Papa (picture right). Pam reports that Teri taught her son the reason to race is that you put forth the effort and good comes from those efforts. It’s not about ‘what’s in it for me?’ In a recent article in the Tri-City Herald (Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009), Brennen shared “he’s happy thinking the money he raised might help someone else’s Papa”.

Together, these events raised over $600 to benefit TNRC.

Pam said that when Ray found TNRC, “he put his hand on a heartbeat he needed to find…and it helped both of us.” With all of those supporting Ray’s legacy at the Art with Heart show and Brennen’s race, the beat very much goes on.
